Restrict Who Can Post to a Mailing List

Mailing lists are a good way to send a message or series of messages tomany people at once. For example, many companies use mailing lists toemail newsletters, promotional offers, or information about productupdates to subscribers.

Domain administrators can specify who can send messages to mailing list subscribers. Doing so can prevent people from spamming the mailing list and control the flow of information. For example, if a company is using the mailing list feature as an announcements list (rather than a discussion list), the domain administrator may want to modify the mailing list settings so that only the moderator can post to the mailing list.

Follow these steps to restrict who can post to a specific mailing list:

  1. Log in to Smartermail as the domain administrator.
  2. Click Settings in the main toolbar.
  3. Expand the Domain Settings and Mailing Lists folders.
  4. Select Mailing Lists in the navigation pane. A list of mailing lists for the domain will load in the content pane.
  5. Select the desired mailing list and click Edit in the actions toolbar.
  6. To specify who can post to the mailing list, select the appropriate option from the Allowed Posters field.
